A Leisurely Day in My Lovely City by the Bay!

Ah yes, that wonderful moment when you realize you have the entire day ahead of you to do as you please! This was the case recently when my mind wandered while stopped at a light one early morning in San Francisco not too long ago. Even though my family and I live across the bay, each time I come to this beautiful city, it is an adventure to be savored. I sized up Macy's and wondered what their windows were boasting, now that spring was not far off. I told myself that after parking, I would sip a cup of coffee at an outdoor cafe while waiting for the stores to open. Just down the street, Barney's beckoned with their bright red sign. Alas, I'd probably just window shop there, as Macy's is more my budget. However, I thought perhaps I just might pop in and stroll up and down their isles, admiring their decadent wares. Yes, I told myself, I'll do this all morning, exploring various shops, killing time until I met up with friends for lunch somewhere fabulous off Union Square, whom I will have called while watching passersby at my little cafe table. Suddenly, the horn honking behind, alerted me that the red light had changed to green, thus abruptly yanking me back to reality! Alas, I wish that is what my day had looked liked, when I ventured into the City that one promising morning. Truth was, my son, after graduating college and living at home momentarily, had missed his BART train to his job and so I quickly agreed to give him a ride into work, only to reluctantly drive right back home, leaving the City and my lovely plans for the day, shrinking in my rear view mirror... After all, I was still in my pajamas!

Craving My Kitchen!

The clock above my stove tells me I have exactly 45 minutes to make it to my exercise class... However, all I want to do is ditch the workout attire, put on a festive apron and putter around my kitchen! Diets be damned!
Cheers!

New Year, New Beginnings!

Slowly and a bit reluctantly, I've taken the last of the Christmas decorations down, which to my chagrin, is the same slow pattern I've taken regarding those elusive New Year's resolutions. It is hard to let go of what the holidays represent; Festive gatherings with family and friends, which always includes an abundance of delicious and decadent "good cheer!" I envy those people who actually begin their resolutions on Jan.1, each year and miraculously seem to stick to it! After all, on that date each year, college football is in overdrive, as we sit watching and recuperating from the celebration of the prior evening. And so, I resolved on New Year's Day, to ease into my resolutions, which always includes taking on a healthier lifestyle. Now that it is nearing the end of January, I am making progress on those resolutions, knowing that after all... The holidays and more "merry making memories" are merely months away. Theoretically at least! Alas, that is why I keep one memento from the holidays up on my wall all year long, which is a quote by Charles Dickens from, "A Christmas Carol!" I view this as a message, reminding me that life is abundantly more than good! So, count your blessings everyday and throughout all the year!
And... "God Bless Us Everyone!"
Cheers!
